The Genealogy Show – The Coastal Atlas of Ireland

Lorna is a Professional Genealogist and Family Historian. She is a longstanding member of the Association of Professional Genealogist. Lorna is the Resident Genealogist for Dromoland Castle in County Clare. Lorna worked as Project Genealogist for George Boole *200 genealogy project for University College Cork and is an excellent researcher for Irish family histories.

Lorna produces and presents the successful show: ‘The Genealogy Radio show’ aired each Thursday at 4p.m. from beautiful Kilkee, Co. Clare at Raidio Corcabaiscinn and Podcasts are available weekly.

Lorna has delivered conference papers at Oxford; Lincoln College: Exploration of the Medieval Gaelic Diet: (2012); seminar papers at the Moore Institute in NUI Galway, ‘The Gaelic Lordships in Thomond, c. 1400-c.1500’ and papers at Irish Conference of Medievalists on themes of Brian Boru and landscape of East Clare. Lorna has published on medieval themes and on maritime subjects. Her research areas are the MacNamaras and O’Briens of Thomond.

Lorna received her Certificate for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) in Dallas in March 2015.




Paulines Poems

What better way to unwind than to join the Craol 2018 award winning show with Pauline Skehan and friends for poetry, chat and song. An accomplished poet, Pauline is joined this week by Rob Jasna and Barry and makes for an enjoyable half hour show.

Community Unity with Margaret, James and Special Guests – Eanna Ni Lamhna and James Fennelly.

On this week’s Community Unity, we chat all things community. Our guests today include James Fennelly from the Light house (West Clare Mental Health Association) where he tells us of all the events taking place in West Clare for Mental Health week taking place between the 7 and 13 October. We also hear from Eanna Ni Lamhna, a renowned botanist by Profession, and hear about the fun activities planned for National Tree Day (www.treeday.ie) and the importance of native trees in preserving bio-diversity. Eanna is also hosting a guided woodland walk in Vandeleur Walled Gardens & Woods on Saturday 9 October as part of Mental Health week.

Reflections

This Programme was made under social distancing guidelines.
A weekly 30-minute space for Christian prayer, song and devotion. It is presented by the Kilkee Prayer Group led by Anne Haugh and Kathleen Ryan and joined in by Donnie Dillon, Anne Marie Harte and Antonio Cebas. It is an invitation to engage in Christian worship through prayer and song, as well as to reflect on the lives of the Saints whose feast day we celebrate. All listeners at home are invited to add their own prayers and petitions and together with those of the group offer them in unison to the Grace of the Lord and our Blessed Lady.

The West Coast Rock Show

The West Coast Rock Show is exclusively broadcast on RCB Radio, playing some of the latest and hottest new and classic rock bands. Presented and produced by Stuart Green, the show brings together old and new rock tracks and aims to give information on the rock music scene in the West of Ireland. The show is available on podcast and will rock out on Saturdays between 5 and 6pm and repeated on Tuesdays between 8 and 9pm. Message the show on Facebook

On this week’s Community Unity, we chat all things community. Jenny Bassett tells us about the Dancing Extravaganza taking place on Sunday 26th September on Kilkee Beach. Brian Clohessy gives us an update on Peter Lawless, who on 21st August began his solo non-stop attempt to sail around the world from Kilrush Marina. We also talk to Barry Williams who is
cycling through County Clare as part of the cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head to raise funds and promote the Cycles Against Suicide initiative.

Clare Senior Ladies Football Club Championship – Kilmihil v Kilmurry Ibrickane

The first round of the Clare Senior Ladies Football Club Championship will see 2020 Intermediate Champions Kilmurry Ibrickane managed by Clare Intercounty manager Evan Talty take on Kilmihil managed by Kevin Callinan whom last won Senior County football championship in 2019. Throw in at 1pm in Quilty and commentary will be provided by Jim Conlan RCB Sport and on analysis David O Brien former Clare Ladies Football Chairman and manager of victorious 2019 Kilmihil Ladies team.
