Lorna is a Professional Genealogist and Family Historian. She is a longstanding member of the Association of Professional Genealogist. Lorna is the Resident Genealogist for Dromoland Castle in County Clare. Lorna worked as Project Genealogist for George Boole *200 genealogy project for University College Cork and is an excellent researcher for Irish family histories.

Lorna produces and presents the successful show: ‘The Genealogy Radio show’ aired each Thursday at 4p.m. from beautiful Kilkee, Co. Clare at Raidio Corcabaiscinn and Podcasts are available weekly.

Lorna has delivered conference papers at Oxford; Lincoln College: Exploration of the Medieval Gaelic Diet: (2012); seminar papers at the Moore Institute in NUI Galway, ‘The Gaelic Lordships in Thomond, c. 1400-c.1500’ and papers at Irish Conference of Medievalists on themes of Brian Boru and landscape of East Clare. Lorna has published on medieval themes and on maritime subjects. Her research areas are the MacNamaras and O’Briens of Thomond.

Lorna received her Certificate for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) in Dallas in March 2015.

An interview with Sharon Meaney of Clare Volunteer Centre who are looking for drivers for the latest Shoe Box Appeal. Also as the national blood stock reaches low levels, an appeal is made by the Irish Blood Transfusion Service for blood donation, who are visiting Kilrush today (28.10.21) details here.

Radio Beams – Orla Flanagan Director of Glor.

Radio Beams show this week is with Director of Glor Orla Flannagan who is doing a fine job despite Covid. Glor opened in 2001 and since then hosted local, national and international artists of various kinds. Clare is lucky to have a fine venue that hosts 500 people and skilled staff. Today on Community Unity we hear about a walkability survey recently undertaken in Kilkee.Brian Clohessy, fresh from hearing the news about his show Tune in for the Tunes receiving a CRAOL award at the weekend, is in to tell us about some community events he attended including a Tractor run and the West Coast Bike ride event both held on Sunday. We also have community announcements and hear about the Hats Off To You campaign for Brain Tumour Awareness week and an appeal from Clare Volunteer Centre looking for volunteers to drive the boxes filled with gifts for those in developing nations as part of the Christmas Shoebox appeal.

Both Johanne and Tom Burke live in Dysart in Clare.
Both retired from their day job set up this great idea of keeping fit by using Nordic poles. There is an art in doing it.

Cummunity Unity

On this weeks Community Unity we discuss all things community. We are joined live in the studio from John Aston from Astoneco about the brainstorming workshop held by Querrin Community Development Group on the future of the school building. We hear from John Murphy from the West Coast Motorcycle Club to tell us of a bike run to be held on Sunday 24th October in aid of Happy Feet Happy Minds . Another live guest Kim Thittichai and http://www.kimthittichai.com tells us about her exhibition in Culterlann Sweeney and her Sonas Studio situated between the Bridges of Ross and Loop Head Lighthouse. We also hear from Marie Lynch the Director of Junior Entrepreneur Programme that launched for school children. We also hear from David Nagel who recently relaunched West Clare Trophies in Kilkee Community Centre.
