The Genealogy Show – Wills and Testements


Lorna is a Professional Genealogist and Family Historian. She is a longstanding member of the Association of Professional Genealogist. Lorna is the Resident Genealogist for Dromoland Castle in County Clare. Lorna worked as Project Genealogist for George Boole *200 genealogy project for University College Cork and is an excellent researcher for Irish family histories.

Lorna produces and presents the successful show: ‘The Genealogy Radio show’ aired each Thursday at 4p.m. from beautiful Kilkee, Co. Clare at Raidio Corcabaiscinn and Podcasts are available weekly.

Lorna has delivered conference papers at Oxford; Lincoln College: Exploration of the Medieval Gaelic Diet: (2012); seminar papers at the Moore Institute in NUI Galway, ‘The Gaelic Lordships in Thomond, c. 1400-c.1500’ and papers at Irish Conference of Medievalists on themes of Brian Boru and landscape of East Clare. Lorna has published on medieval themes and on maritime subjects. Her research areas are the MacNamaras and O’Briens of Thomond.

Lorna received her Certificate for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) in Dallas in March 2015.

While he had qualified as a Stainlesteel engineer. His focus turned to art with metal work and silver.His work is abstract.
His art has sold abroad in a number of countries.

Kilkee Civic Trust Summer Talks: Fionnuala Walsh – Cappa to California.

September 2013 Fionnuala was the first Irish Female to swim the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to San Pedro on the Californian mainland, see (below) (video here (8 Minutes).)  


Together with Ned Denison and Liz Fry both International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (IMSHOF) they completed the first ever group marathon: anti-clockwise around Anacapa Island (Santa Barbara, California 18km) in November 2016 see (below)video here (22 Mintues).

A Little Bit of Gardening – August Jobs

With August now upon us, you will probably start to notice the summer flowering plants are starting to age, with their leaves becoming yellow or fading… Our tall plants may be beginning to bend, while clump forming perennials may start growing leggy. There are a few simple maintenance jobs that we can do to keep things going, so that is what we are looking at today, the Jobs for the month of August.

Born in Kilnaboy but moved in recent years in the village of Corofin. Now 91yrs old talks about football and his farming life. Set up a football club in Kilnaboy and later amalgamated with Corofin GAA.
Was well known for bringing the creamery cans of farmers to the Creamery in Corofin.

A Little Bit of Gardening – Rabbit Proof

We have looked at many plants and kept an emphasis on coastal plants, due to our Kilkee location. However, there are many country areas within the location, with large, open spaces close to homes in these rural settings. For some of these homes, it is probably true to say that rabbits are the most serious source of plant damage and loss in the garden… So that is what I thought we could look at today, rabbit resistant plants….

RCB Sports Show

In this weeks RCB Sports show, host Adrian O’ Connor chats with Clare sports reporter Seamus Hayes as the look at the All Ireland Senior Football win by Armagh over Galway in Croke Park on Sunday. The lads look at this Friday evenings start of the Tús football championship as the clubs kick off their campaign for the Jack Daly cup. Later in the show, Adrian chats with Moira McGuane camogie/hurling coach & organiser of the Virtual Cyclathon in Aid of Kilkee-Bealaha Hurling & Camogie Club. The bucket shake & cycle will be held in Kilkee this Sunday the 4th of August from 10am to 6pm. The static Cyclists will have to virtually cycle from Kilkee to Croke Park in Dublin on the Main Street in Kilkee.
