Resilience and Recovery 2020-2021: Plan for Living with COVID-19

Ireland is moving from a short-term emergency response approach to a medium-term approach to managing risk and repairing the damage that COVID-19 has inflicted on society.

The Framework for Restrictive Measures will help us to go about our daily lives as much as possible, while managing the behaviour of the virus. The Framework consists of 5 Levels.

The lower Levels will be activated when there is low incidence of the disease, with isolated outbreaks, low community transmission. The higher Levels will be used to deal with higher incidences of the disease.

It will be possible for different regions and counties to be at a different Level to the National Level, depending on the incidence of the virus in that particular region or county.

Lorna is a Professional Genealogist and Family Historian. She is a longstanding member of the Association of Professional Genealogist. Lorna is the Resident Genealogist for Dromoland Castle in County Clare. Lorna worked as Project Genealogist for George Boole *200 genealogy project for University College Cork and is an excellent researcher for Irish family histories.

Lorna produces and presents the successful show: ‘The Genealogy Radio show’ aired each Thursday at 4p.m. from beautiful Kilkee, Co. Clare at Raidio Corcabaiscinn and Podcasts are available weekly.

Lorna has delivered conference papers at Oxford; Lincoln College: Exploration of the Medieval Gaelic Diet: (2012); seminar papers at the Moore Institute in NUI Galway, ‘The Gaelic Lordships in Thomond, c. 1400-c.1500’ and papers at Irish Conference of Medievalists on themes of Brian Boru and landscape of East Clare. Lorna has published on medieval themes and on maritime subjects. Her research areas are the MacNamaras and O’Briens of Thomond.

Lorna received her Certificate for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) in Dallas in March 2015.

Paulines Poems with Pauline, Rob, Emma, Paul & Jasna

What better way to unwind than to join the Craol 2018 award winning show with Pauline Skehan and friends for poetry, chat and song. An accomplished poet, Pauline is joined by Rob , Emma and Anthony and makes for an enjoyable half hour show. Paulines second printed book of poetry is available from the ‘Starfish Enterprise’ business centre in Kilkee.

HSE Mid West Community Healthcare is pleased to announce additional capacity for Covid 19 testing in the Mid West. As part of the HSE’s drive to improve accessibility for coronavirus testing for local communities the new centre when fully operational can cater for up to 600-700 tests per day if demand requires.
The centre is based at St Joseph’s Health Campus on Mulgrave Street in Limerick City and will offer free testing for anyone who is referred by a GP.
Those being tested will be required to follow public health measures, including social distancing, not travelling by taxi or public transport, practising good personal hygiene and wearing a face-covering throughout (including travelling to and from the testing centre).
HSE Mid West Community Healthcare Chief Officer Maria Bridgeman, said: “We are very pleased to make this announcement, the additional pop up test centre becomes operational from today and will increase in capacity from three to seven testing bays in the coming days. This centre will help us meet the increased demand for testing at a location which is very accessible to the community. It is important the public continue to adhere to all public health guidelines as the HSE continues it’s response to Covid 19”
Appointments will be offered from 2pm to 8pm on Wednesday 9th September and the centre will be operational 7 days a week from Thursday 10th September from 8am to 8pm. The HSE would strongly urge those offered an appointment for testing to please attend.

Radio Beams – Tommy Ryan Sings for the Neighbours

Radio Beams guest this week is Tommy Ryan who sings for his neighbours in Gallows Hill. Tommy and his son John perform on a weekly basis during Lock down. Tommy talks about his singing in Day Care Centers and Nursing homes in Clare and how he missed been there.
Tommy has a collection of over 1,500 songs on his computer ready to play.

Radio Beams Tuesday show talks to two men who came over 15 years ago to Ireland to make it their home.
