We start off this week with Anna Swisher from CLDC.ie who in partnership with FoodCloud are running a series of two workshops from 1st April , Thrive Together: Community Solutions for Food Waste which aims to reduce food waste through community exchange while highlighting food sharing projects around the county.

Teresa was out into the Loop Head in the fine weather over the bank holiday to the new season celebrations at the Loophead Lighthouse re-opening speaking to Stephen Rowan and Gabrielle Keating The lighthouse is open now and from 15 May open 7 days a week. Now taking bookings for overnight stays at the Lighthouse Attendant’s Cottage, lighthouse tour’s can also be booked from the website. The lighthouse is part of the Clare Three Attractions on one Ticket and can be purchased here.
With the art exhibition underway in Ennistymon Teresa meets Christine Jenkins and students Cat and Lioda while on a perouse of the artwork exhibition at the FETAC learners Art Exhibition at the Ennistymon Courthouse Gallery which includes heart rending cathartic pieces reflecting the ongoing conflict since 2014 in Ukraine.

During Kidney Awareness week James speaks to Dermot Hayes Chairperson of the Clare branch Kidney Association , who receives Peritoneal dialysis which needs to be administered for many hours on a daily basis. Dermot is raising awareness of kidney health and vital importance of the Kidney Donor card.

Cliffs of Moher are celebrating St. Brigide’s day both at the Cliffs and at Vandeleur Garden’s with drop in craft workshops, Sharon Malone is on line with more information , see link above for details.

Diedre Keating, Local Enterprise Officer at the local enterprise office Clareis on the line with information on the new round of courses and training session with have information and help on current grant promotions available to SME’s aimed at growing local enterprise.

Teresa visits Roisin Horgan at the Kilrush Citizen’s Information Centre who can advise on , and help for dealing with storm damage using the assistance scheme which is an initiative only available during a limited period after the storm event.

Williams Hardware Kilkee
Paul Williams is in the studio on the 75th Anniversary of Williams Hardware in Kilkee founded by his grandparents in 1950, Paul speaks on the history and some of the in’s and out’s of running the Kilkee hardware retail store.

Teresa was out and about over the weekend at the Querrin School House Christmas Tractor Run fundraiser for the School house conversion work and meets Mrs Klaus.

Mairead Padraig and Sadhbh head over to Ennis to meet some of the stallholders at the recent CLDC Social Enterprise Expo at The Inn at Dromoland speaking to Siobhan Boyd, from Mna le cheile, Women’s Shed Group, Jason from Fruit Tree food plant nursery , and Grainne Mulryan from Kilkee Golf Club ,and Grainne Flynn from Thriobetes an organisation which provides diabetes peer support.

James Fennelly, peer co-ordinator with The Light house Mental Health Asociation was in the studio birnging with him some encouragement over the winter season for people who are more sensitive to the darker winter months, generally known as Seasonal affective disorder(SAD) . James has motivational and well being advice for those affected with advice on how to form good habits to help soften the affects.

As part of ‘Science Week’ The Irish Dolphin and Whale Group will be on stage over at the Cultúrlann Sweeney this Friday, November 15th with a multimedia presentation of Can We Speak Whale ? Sharon Meaney from The Clare Volunteer Centre outlines the services offered to volunteers and organistaions alike, the centre acts as a volunteer hub for registered users to connect volunteers with a relevant organisaton appropriate to the registrant.

Jill O’Connor from Loop Head Rowing Club is in the studio following the completion of the “Five Pilots” , a community boat build project.The St. Ayles Skiff was officially launch last week in Carrigaholt. The Loop Rowing Club is currently open to new members see link for details.
