In today’s show hosted by Padraig Griffin we have a mix of music and chat starting off with Alison Bough from Active Retirement Ireland who is involved in the development of a wellbeing programme for older people which, following the pandemic lockdowns takes into consideration loneliness and isolation and aims to support older people to become more aware of and prioritise their mental health.
Brenda has the Community Diary of events for the West Clare area and Teresa Glendenning speaks to Stephen Hanna from Irish Mountaineering an instructor who runs courses and activities in the Burren and West Clare Coast.

On today’s show Padraig speaks to Mike Walsh who is part of Community Substance Misuse Team in the Mid-West and celebrating 10 years of assisting youths, families and communities with support in coping with substance abuse.

Kicking off the show today Teresa pays a visit to the Carrigaholt National School Kindness Cafe to speak to the Pupils about all the things they are involved in. Tereasa and Brenda visit Culturlann Sweeney Library and speak to Anne Finnucane about some of the events in the Library.
Professor Roger O’Sullivan, IPH Director of Ageing Research and Development on the line to speak about a report which found that despite a high level of awareness about the benefits of physical activity and recommended guidelines, women were less active than men and highlights the need to understand and address barriers to physical activity for other groups. Almost half of respondents in Ireland (46%) and a third in Northern Ireland (33%) knew the weekly recommendations to do at least 150 minutes of physical activity, although only around three in 10 across both jurisdictions were physically active five days a week or more. It found that women were less likely to be active and more likely to be inactive than men in both jurisdictions – this was despite high awareness of the benefits of physical activity amongst women.

Next is Natalie, Joanne and Sue from Seal Rescue Ireland which works with volunteers around the coast to perform seal rescues, rehabilitaion and after being given the seal of approval released back into the sea.
Finishing off with Keith Enright founder of ASD Ireland head office in Limerick, which provides socially inclusive activities for people with autism and support to their families.

Community Unity featuring West Clare Mini Marathon and Susanne Rodgers from Social Justice Ireland

On todays Community Unity Brenda and Teresa gave us the community announcements, 
Máiréad spoke to Susanne Rodgers live from Social Justice Ireland on increasing the core social rates and the cost of living crisis.
Adrain O’Connor was out in Kilkee in January 29th for RCB 25th Anniversary on the 29th of January 2023 and put together a great short documentary on the West Clare Mini marathon 2023.
We were then joined by Daithi O Connell who enchanted us with his music and chats , and about what he is doing since retirement. With Máiréad , Brenda, Teresa, Padraig , Adrian , Noel.
