On today’s Community Unity where we discuss all things community, our very own Brenda Deloughery tells us about her 100 miles in September sponsored walk in aid of the Mater Foundation. Laura Foley from Hemp4soil chats to us about the Hemp4soil project and a farm walk and presentation coming up on 17th September on Sheehy’s Farm. Our new Broadcasting Assistant Chris Behan chats with Marc O’Briain at his recent book launch event for ‘The Last of the Light’. We also hear about the community events occurring in the locality over the coming weeks.

On this week’s Community Unity where we discuss all things community we are joined by Caroline and her children Aaron, Darragh, Emma and Rachel Townsend who are in to play some tunes and chat about their love of music. Marc O Riain chats about the launch of his book ‘The Last Light’ a book of night notes, memories, short stories and images from the Loop Head peninsula. Patricia Moore from the Older People’s Council is on to talk about a series of 3 seminars entitled ‘Putting your house in order’ (one of which is taking place in Kilrush); the work of the Clare Older People’s Council and the search for Clare older people’s volunteer of the year award. John Morrison also pops in to tell us about his new Gospel show which will be being broadcast on RCB radio on Friday evening.

On this week’s Community Unity Teresa Glendinning talks us through all the events happening in West Clare as part of Heritage Week taking place until August 21st. Brian Clohessy is in to talk about some community activities taking place. Teresa spent some time learning about the Flying Alpacas. Dr Yyonne Finnegan from the National Dairy Council is on to give advice and tips of how to pack a healthy and nutritious lunch for children attending secondary schools. Teresa also chats with Clare McGrath the Water Safety Officer about the accessible wheel chair for the beach here in Kilkee.

We hear the community announcements for the West Clare area and Suzie Murphy is live from the studio to tell us about the Voices for Cancer event taking place in the Vandeleur Walled Gardens on August 19th as well as telling us about her personal story of being diagnosed with cancer.

On today’s Community Unity where we discuss all things community, Mairead speaks to Bunny O’ Riordan from Midleton Hub in Cork who is undertaking a motorbike run, 32 counties in 32 days to raise awareness for their project, which is involved in suicide awareness in particular helping those left behind and grieving. He is doing this in memory of his son Cian. He will be heading to Clare and will be in Kilrush and Kilkee on August 5th 2022 if you are in the area please support this.

We talk with Brian Clohessy about the importance of a good diet and exercise and how it improves your well being and mood.

Margaret spoke to Pat Haugh who is doing the New York marathon and is having a fundraiser in Keogh’s bar Moyasta on September 9th to raise funds for Crumlin Children’s Hospital

On today’s Community Unity where we discuss all things community, Teresa talks with Deirdre Power from the Citizen’s Information Service. We talk with Rita O’Dwyer about the community social event being held in Quilty to raise funding for the Miltown Malbay parish St Vincent de Paul. We hear from Charlie Glynn on the RNLI open day held in Kilrush. We also talk with Pauline Dunleavy about her up and coming art exhibition in Culterlann Sweeney. Finally we talk to our volunteer Dermot Hayes about a commemoration event held in Corofin where he was given an award for the RCB documentary Let Erin Remember, his participation in the Faces of Clare documentary and a Clare Leader Forum event coming up in Ennis on Friday.

Teresa spoke to Carsten Krieger about how he came to live in West Clare, his photography and the books that he has written to date.
We were joined live in studio by Dáithí O’Connell Principal of Limerick School of Music who chatted about his career to date, and then played a few tunes on the violin.

On today show we spoke about the Famous piper Willie Clancy as this is the 50th anniversary of the summer school in Miltown Malbay, which is on this week , we listened to some lovely recordings by him.
Teresa caught up with Clarise Barclay a tourist who spoke about loop head and the amazing scenery and activities that she has encountered during her 1st visit to this area.
Teresa also spoke with Colette Costello about the re opening of loop head lighthouse after being closed for 2 years.
We we joined live in studio by the O’ Brien Family from portlaoise, Co, Laois. Dad Liam, Mum Deirdre and their son Bill who are in West Clare for the Willie Clancy week.
We had a great conversation about music and we had a live performance from Bill O’Brien who plays the banjo and he spoke about how he became involved in music and the great teachers he has had over the years.
