Radio Beams this week story is from Freda Shannon Burke from Miltown Malbay.
She talks about her training as a nurse in England yearning to come home to work.
She did and found love in her middle forties to Joe Burke who was in his middle fifties also from Miltown Malbay.
They got married in 2016. Two years after Joe got very sick suddenly and it was discovered he had brain tumour. He ended up passing away in Cahercalla hospital after four weeks

Being the 20th of December we mark the festivity of another Advent saint: Dominic of Silos . St. Dominic of Silos is patron saint of prisoners, pregnant women, and shepherds who was was a Spanish monk, to whom the Abbey of Santo Domingo de Silos, where he served as the abbot is dedicated.

Radio Beams story this week is about the new book written and produced by Larry Brennan The Lanes and Bow ways of Ennis.
It is part of the Clare Roots Group of 36 books produced since it set up in 2006.
We get a great insight to the conditions of thousands of people living in hovels and over crowded dwellings in the lanes and bow ways of Ennis. Until at the beginning of the last century houses were build in St Michael Villas, Hermitage, Turnpike etc. to take people out of these conditions.

As we celebrate the 2nd Sunday of Advent we continue to reflect on the meaning and significance of Advent for all Christians. Advent not only helps us focus better and get ready for the arrival of Christmas, it also nourishes us spiritually and insulates us from the rush and materialistic trappings that precede it. On the day of his feast day, the 6th of December, we highlight the life and historical importance of one of Christianity’s most revered and popular saints: Saint Nicholas of Myra, Patron Saint of sailors and mariners in the Eastern Church and of Children in the Western Church. We will accompany the show with some music associated with this remarkably popular Saint.

Reflections 22.11.20

A weekly 30-minute space for Christian prayer, song and devotion. It is presented by the Kilkee Prayer Group led by Anne Haugh and Kathleen Ryan and joined in by Donnie Dillon, Anne Marie Harte and Antonio Cebas. It is an invitation to engage in Christian worship through prayer and song, as well as to reflect on the lives of the Saints whose feast day we celebrate. All listeners at home are invited to add their own prayers and petitions and together with those of the group offer them in unison to the Grace of the Lord and our Blessed Lady.
