Lorna is a Professional Genealogist and Family Historian. She is a longstanding member of the Association of Professional Genealogist. Lorna is the Resident Genealogist for Dromoland Castle in County Clare. Lorna worked as Project Genealogist for George Boole *200 genealogy project for University College Cork and is an excellent researcher for Irish family histories.

Lorna produces and presents the successful show: ‘The Genealogy Radio show’ aired each Thursday at 4p.m. from beautiful Kilkee, Co. Clare at Raidio Corcabaiscinn and Podcasts are available weekly.

Lorna has delivered conference papers at Oxford; Lincoln College: Exploration of the Medieval Gaelic Diet: (2012); seminar papers at the Moore Institute in NUI Galway, ‘The Gaelic Lordships in Thomond, c. 1400-c.1500’ and papers at Irish Conference of Medievalists on themes of Brian Boru and landscape of East Clare. Lorna has published on medieval themes and on maritime subjects. Her research areas are the MacNamaras and O’Briens of Thomond.

Lorna received her Certificate for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) in Dallas in March 2015.

Not everyone has a garden and for some, a balcony or a small courtyard is the outdoor space they enjoy. If this is the case there are options for growing flowers or indeed fruit, vegetables or herbs in containers. Mary Ryan has advice on home energy saving, and provides an overview of the Home Energy Saving Kit which includes an appliance monitor, temperature sensor, thermal sensor to check energy usage in the home and is available to borrow from the Library.

Simon Day , Manager of Loophead lighthouse prepares for re-opening this Saturday and speaks to Tereasa about refurbishment, rearangements, biodiviersity garden, and the Coffee hut will be opening up again. Opening weekends and bank holidays only though until mid June then open 7 days a week until the end of September.

On Today’s Community Unity Teresa Glendenning speaks to Amy Hanley who, after her teenage daughter was diagnosed with Anorexia and spent a year in hospital, went on to setup www.mindeverybody.com in hope of bringing greater awareness to the condition and to the treatments available for anyone suffering from eating dissorders. We have Mary Keane from Halla Eoin Kilbaha community centre which is hosting an Arts and Crafts course tutured by Gene Clohessy of Doonbeg Creative Arts Studio. The refurbished Halle Eoin Centre moves from strength to strength with a bunch of organised events over the upcoming months for the community including childrens Easter Camp over April 2nd,3rd and 4th, see links for details. “We are Human Too” Ann Marie Flanagan Editor, Martin Tobin and Brian Hogan two of the 100 contributors.
