We bring you further news of the Kilkee Arts Festival 2024.
The festival honours: Charlotte Brontë ~ Walking The Invisible ~ 1854 to 2024 ~ 170 Years later.
It will be hosted on Friday, 13th & Saturday, 14th & Sunday, 15th September 2024.
The venue is: Cultúrlann Sweeney, O’Connell Street, Kilkee, Co. Clare V15 P960

Admission to the entire programme of festival events is FREE of Charge.
A donations box will be available, throughout the festival, to assist the Kilkee Civic Trust in defraying essential and necessary expenses; which is In keeping with the Kilkee Civic Trust long-standing custom, for the Summer Talks Series & annual Arts In Focus evening, each year.







Radio Beams – Rita Kierce ran for Ireland.

Radio Beams show this week is well know international athlete Rita Kierce who lives in Kilnaboy but born near Miltown Malbay. Rita ran cross country for decades and then in later years runs track.
Rita represented Ireland in New Zealand and Australia and in many countries in the EU.
Rita got cancer in 1990 and was not long married. Had two children 20 years later Rita is back running again with St Mary’s Athletic Club. She also now runs on the track and still winning.

Community Unity featuring Jill O’Connor , Collette , Sharon Meaney and Sarah Clancy

Sharon Meaney from The Clare Volunteer Centre outlines the services offered to volunteers and organistaions alike, the centre acts as a volunteer hub for registered users to connect volunteers with a relevant organisaton appropriate to the registrant.

Jill O’Connor from Loop Head Rowing Club is in the studio following the completion of the “Five Pilots” , a community boat build project.The St. Ayles Skiff was officially launch last week in Carrigaholt. The Loop Rowing Club is currently open to new members see link for details.
Teresa attended the Connect Cafe in Milltown Malbay at the Collette from Money Advice and Budgeting Service , a free service which can advise on personal budgeting and planning advice to keep yourself out of arrears, and financialy in good health. Padraig Sarah Clancy co-ordinator of Clare PPN and poet and is performing at the Banner Books open mic, reads some of her poetry.

The Genealogy Show – The Nation of Barretts

Lorna worked as Project Genealogist for George Boole *200 genealogy project for University College Cork and is an excellent researcher for Irish family histories.

Lorna produces and presents the successful show: ‘The Genealogy Radio show’ aired each Thursday at 4p.m. from beautiful Kilkee, Co. Clare at Raidio Corcabaiscinn and Podcasts are available weekly.

Lorna has delivered conference papers at Oxford; Lincoln College: Exploration of the Medieval Gaelic Diet: (2012); seminar papers at the Moore Institute in NUI Galway, ‘The Gaelic Lordships in Thomond, c. 1400-c.1500’ and papers at Irish Conference of Medievalists on themes of Brian Boru and landscape of East Clare. Lorna has published on medieval themes and on maritime subjects. Her research areas are the MacNamaras and O’Briens of Thomond.

Lorna received her Certificate for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy (CAFG) in Dallas in March 2015.

Radio Beams show this week is with Eileen Thomas BSc(Hons)MSc,FGS Senior Engineering Geologist.
Born in Scotland. Started work in printing in London. Due to serious discrimination between men and women. In conditions and pay she started on the road to doing night classes.
Which finally lead Eileen to been a Geologist now based in Slieve Aughty mountains between Clare and Galway. Where she works from.

Radio Beams show this week is with the Clare Older People’s Council Marge O Callaghan PRO,Kelly Slattery staff member of Clare C.C. and Maurice Harvey Chairperson. An EXPO on Health and Wellbeing.Held in Treacy West County Hotel in Ennis.
Where there were stalls from around the county. 600 people turned up.
