Public Health Measures
You can find information here about the public health measures in place.
COVID-19 Vaccination Programme
For updates and information on the vaccination programme please visit www.hse.ie/rollout.
Vaccine registration opens for people aged 18-24
Online registration for everyone aged 18-24 is now open. People in this age group can register now and will be offered a vaccine appointment at a HSE vaccination centre within 3 weeks of registering.
Vaccine options for people in this age group:
People aged 18-24 may have a choice between 2 types of vaccine, both types will protect from severe illness from COVID-19.
- the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. These mRNA vaccines are the recommended and preferred option for people under the age of 50. People aged 18-24 will be offered an appointment for one of these vaccines within 3 weeks of registering online.
- the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine or AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. These viral vector vaccines have been associated with a rare side effect of unusual blood clots, which is more common in people under 50.
When registering online, people can indicate that they are happy to opt for a viral vector vaccine. This may mean they can be vaccinated sooner, all depending on vaccine supplies. The appointment text will let people know which vaccine is being offered.
People aged 18-34 can also choose to get a Janssen vaccine at a participating pharmacy, depending on supplies. If people in this age group are already registered with a pharmacy for a Janssen vaccine, they can now register on HSE.ie for an mRNA vaccine.
Read information to help you decide which vaccine is best for you.
Registration for people aged 25 to 69
People aged 25 to 69 who have not already registered for their vaccine can still register online.

Drop in Application Clinic
Feel free to drop in to our clinic with a question from 1-2pm Wednesday 28th July
You don’t need to be an expert and your submission can be as short or long as you like.
Our ocean is at breaking point, following years of pressure from supertrawlers, aquaculture, oil and gas exploration, plastic and noise pollution. Large predatory fish have declined by 90% since the advent of industrial fishing and many species face extinction.
The good news is that sea-life has a remarkable ability to bounce back once these threats are removed. Scientists worldwide agree that a network of properly-managed Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) allows marine habitats to recover and replenish.
Just 2% of Ireland’s incredibly diverse sea area is designated as protected areas, but there is almost no monitoring or policing of these. Supertrawlers can legally operate in these areas. Ken O’Sullivan says that to rebuild marine ecosystems, we must designate at least 30% of our ocean for special protection by 2030.
HOW TO TAKE ACTION:
Please send an email to , with the subject line ‘MPA Public Consultation 2021’. An email written by you will have more impact than a template email, but here are a few points you might like to make…
I support the expert report and would like to see the recommendations being swiftly implemented.
I would also like to see:
• Immediate action to protect existing Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) and Special Protection Areas, for example the SAC in the Shannon Estuary.
• No industrial fishing in Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) – and especially no bottom-towed gears.
• 30% of Irish waters as MPAs as a minimum target for 2030.
• Support for fishing communities in Clare that may be negatively impacted by MPAs.
• Proper investment in scientific data gathering.
• All MPAs to be actively managed with public participation.
Another way to make a submission is go to the public consultation website and fill in an anonymous survey where you can also download the full MPA report)
