The Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business sets out how the COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted.

These measures are now in place for Phase 3. They are part of the roadmap for reopening society and business.

The crisis is not over: COVID-19 is still having a major impact on our country. While great progress has been made to date, the experience of countries that have seen a resurgence of the virus makes it clear that there is still a risk of further spread.
By working together we have saved lives and limited the impact of the disease.
Continued adherence to public health advice will determine whether we continue to move forward.


The roadmap sets out Ireland’s plan for lifting COVID-19 restrictions on:

  • 18 May – phase 1
  • 8 June – phase 2
  • 19 June – phase 2 Revision
  • 29 June – phase 3
  • Guidance on safe use of face coverings
