On this week’s Community Unity we discuss all things community, we hear from Pat Sexton from Clare Local Sports Partnership about the Beat the Streets soccer initiative for young boys and girls. There’s another chance to hear about Christy Killeen’s Musings Miscellany, Clare book launch taking place this Thursday evening. We also hear from John Keane about the One Act Doonbeg Drama festival taking place 13th to 15th November.

In today’s Community Unity where we discuss all things community, we hear from Christy Killeen about the book launch Musings Miscellany, Clare coming up on November 11th. Sounds like a fun night. Brian Clohessy is in the studio giving us valuable advice on keeping safe and secure now that the evenings are getting darker. James Fennelly from the Lighthouse West Clare Mental Health Association tells us about all the activities taking place in the Lighthouse in the month of November now that the darker nights are drawing in.

Today on Community Unity we hear about a walkability survey recently undertaken in Kilkee.Brian Clohessy, fresh from hearing the news about his show Tune in for the Tunes receiving a CRAOL award at the weekend, is in to tell us about some community events he attended including a Tractor run and the West Coast Bike ride event both held on Sunday. We also have community announcements and hear about the Hats Off To You campaign for Brain Tumour Awareness week and an appeal from Clare Volunteer Centre looking for volunteers to drive the boxes filled with gifts for those in developing nations as part of the Christmas Shoebox appeal.

We are joined live in the studio from John Aston from Astoneco about the brainstorming workshop held by Querrin Community Development Group on the future of the school building. We hear from John Murphy from the West Coast Motorcycle Club to tell us of a bike run to be held on Sunday 24th October in aid of Happy Feet Happy Minds . Another live guest Kim Thittichai and http://www.kimthittichai.com tells us about her exhibition in Culterlann Sweeney and her Sonas Studio situated between the Bridges of Ross and Loop Head Lighthouse. We also hear from Marie Lynch the Director of Junior Entrepreneur Programme that launched for school children. We also hear from David Nagel who recently relaunched West Clare Trophies in Kilkee Community Centre.

We are joined by Kevin Heapes who talks about an upcoming community brainstorming workshop to explore the possibilities of creating a future community space in the former Querrin National School. Brian Clohessy joins us to talk about some exciting community news. Mairead gives an overview of today’s Budget. Also today we have Pat Sexton from Clare Sports Partnership to talk about Buggy Buddies and Men on the Move, two exciting programmes starting today in the area for 6 and 10 weeks (respectively).

We also hear from James Fennelly from the Lighthouse (West Clare Mental Health Association) and hear about the activities taking place in West Clare for Mental Health Week. We also hear from Mary to hear about the Vandeleur Park Runheld every Saturday morning in Vandeleur Forest trail in Kilrush.

On this week’s Community Unity, we chat all things community. Our guests today include James Fennelly from the Light house (West Clare Mental Health Association) where he tells us of all the events taking place in West Clare for Mental Health week taking place between the 7 and 13 October. We also hear from Eanna Ni Lamhna, a renowned botanist by Profession, and hear about the fun activities planned for National Tree Day (www.treeday.ie) and the importance of native trees in preserving bio-diversity. Eanna is also hosting a guided woodland walk in Vandeleur Walled Gardens & Woods on Saturday 9 October as part of Mental Health week.

On this week’s Community Unity, we chat all things community. Jenny Bassett tells us about the Dancing Extravaganza taking place on Sunday 26th September on Kilkee Beach. Brian Clohessy gives us an update on Peter Lawless, who on 21st August began his solo non-stop attempt to sail around the world from Kilrush Marina. We also talk to Barry Williams who is
cycling through County Clare as part of the cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head to raise funds and promote the Cycles Against Suicide initiative.

New: Community Unity

On this week’s Community Unity, we talk all things community and have music and chat with our guests Ray Lowe and Brian Clohessy. Brian gives us some helpful information about booking bands, DJs, videographers, etc. for weddings and events as Covid-19 restrictions are easing. Ray will be delving into his extensive CD collection before focusing on the all-Ireland GAA final that took place on Saturday between Mayo and Tyrone.
