On Community Unity today where we discuss all things community, our first live guest Ann Marie Flanagan from Clare Leader Forum is in the studio to talk about the Empower on line celebratory and solidarity concert marking International Day of disabled people with the theme ‘Fighting for the rights in a post covid era’. Ann Marie talks about the disabled younger people who continue to be deprived of their liberty in nursing homes across our nation. Ann Marie also talks about the work of Clare Leader Forum and advocates for societal change to ensure the contributions of disabled persons are recognised and facilitated to reach their full potential. Also today we hear from Alan Finn about a concert coming up on 3 December in Teach Cheoil Kilrush. Nuala Shannahan from Doonbeg Community Development tells us about a commemoration to mark the 80th anniversary of the RAF Sunderland Plane Crash taking place on 5th December on Doughmore Beach. Our next live guest is Denis Hynes, FAI County Development Officer telling us about the Beat the Streets 5 a side soccer tournament finals in Kilrush astro turf, taking place on Friday evening for young people.

Radio Beams – Tom Nestor is 88yrs

Radio Beams this weeks show is with 88 yrs old Tom Nestor born in Cahaska Maurices Mill. Worked most of his life driving for the Clare County Council and on Saturday with Jack Daly driving in Ennis. He was married for 50 yrs before his late wife passed away. Tom and his wife loved to dance and visited many halls and marquees in Clare and beyond. Tom now lives in Ennis. Reflections

This week’s show celebrates the forthcoming Feast Day of St. Andrew Apostle, looking at his prominent position as cornerstone of the Orthodox Christian Church and founder of the See of Byzantium. Also we will look at his status as patron saint of Scotland and the legend linked with the arrival of his relics in the 6th century. There will also be music associated with his feast day plus the regular contributions by Kathleen Ryan and Anne Marie Harte.

Community Unity

On Community Unity today where we discuss all things community, we announce events, courses, concerts and activities occurring throughout our area. We hear from CEO Sean Moynihan on the campaign to leave no one alone this Christmas. We hear from Patricia Rickard Clarke, Safeguarding Ireland Chairperson, on the recent inaugural awareness day on Adult Safeguarding. We also hear about other domestic abuse support being rolled out to 220 salons in County Clare. Caroline Garven the Superintendent Veterinary inspector for Department of Agriculture also informs us about Animal Health Awareness week.

Radio Beams – Noirin Lynch

Radio Beams show this week is with Noirin Lynch who is Director at FCJ Spirituality House, Spanish Point. 4 doors up from the Armada Hotel.
Noirin is currently developing the 13 bed centre to hold day long sessions for the community on varies issues.
Noirin is also an accomplished singer and has a number of recording to her credit.

Radio Beams – Cuban Ambassador Hugo Rene Ramos Milanes came to Clare.

Radio Beams show this week is with the Cuban Ambassador who visited Clare recently for a public meeting. He talks about Cuba and the sporting achievements, the USA blockade, the protests held in last July. Radio Beams – Fr Murphy impact on O Connell election 1828

Radio Beams this week is chatting to the Corofin Historical Society who erected a monument to the late Fr Murphy.
Who was the parish priest of Corofin and who lead the 40 shilling free holders of the area to vote in Ennis for Danial O Connell in 1928.
Speakers are Roisin Neylon, Declan Kelleher and Dr MacConmara who great grandfather attended Fr Murphy in his death bed in 1832.
